Course Description

Celestial navigation is a sure way to know where you are in the world by calculating your position relative to a celestial body. While it could be argued the need for knowledge beyond a basic noon sight of the sun is no necessary, candidates who do this course are doing it because it is a passion, and enthusiasm for the art of self reliance.  

This course will delve into some of the most essential celestial navigation methods and explain the benefits and considerations of each method.

Certification

Candidates will recieve a Mills Boat Academy certificate of completion.

Who this course if for

We advise that candidates who take this course be well versed in standard navigation (GPS, compass and chart) methods. This course goes beyond the scope of a Yachtmaster course and so students should prepare for advanced mathematical calculation and understandings.
