About Us

Mills Boat Academy was born out of the desire to make sailing and powerboating more inclusive and more accessible! If something is good, it’s even better when shared! That’s our heart at Mills Boat Academy, to share this wonderful sport with you! In 2020, Jason Mills – our Principal – started creating sailing manuals and instructional videos to help bridge the gap between traditionally expensive classroom-based courses and self-study students who lacked support. Today, Mills Boat Academy has launched hundreds of hours of online learning courses and practical sailing courses. South African Sailing Courses

A SAS skippers ticket allows students to sail vessels above 9m and with an engine above 15HP. The ticket applies to both motorboats and sailboats and is recognised worldwide. Students will be prepared for the SAS theory, oral and practical exams. SAS skippers is the only accreditation recognised by South African Port authorities in order to sail in South Africa.

SAMSA Powerboat Courses

If you are wanting to skipper a powerboat over 9m with an engine over 15HP in South Africa you will require a SAMSA skippers ticket. These courses will prepare students for the SAMSA exams by teaching SAMSA outlined course material as well as preparing students for SAMSA theory exam.
